“Fat Talk” Free Week (October 22-28)
Fat Talk Free Week is a national awareness effort to bring attention to body image issues and change our focus from size to health.
Fat Talk includes all statements made in everyday conversations that reinforce unrealistic body ideals and contributes to body dissatisfaction and low self-esteem. Saying things like, “I’m so fat,” “Do I look fat in this?" are a few examples; however, even messages intended to be positive can still be Fat Talk, such as: "you look great! Have you lost weight?" By focusing attention on weight, appearance, and reinforcing focus on size. In honor of Fat Talk Free Week, Pledge here to end Fat Talk now. http://www.succeedfoundation.org/work/fat_talk_free_week_pledge
